Erik is the son of Sylus Ballard, a member of the Forum in Old Sharlayan. While life was comfortable there, Erik wanted to make a name for himself in the world. With a love of literature, Erik chose to become a writer himself and create his own stories for people to enjoy. Thus, he left his home and moved to Ul'dah for a time.At first, it was difficult to get his writing off the ground. Knowing that there were other ways to raise gil to keep the meat on his bones, Erik attended the gladiator school so he could learn combat and survival skills. With those in hand, he went out on small scale quests with others so that he could make the gil needed to focus on his writing. These excursions also helped Erik see the world and gain inspirations for his stories.Time passed and during one adventure, Erik found himself in Ishgard, one of the most beautiful places he had ever seen. Settling there for a while, Erik spent time at the Skysteel Manufactory, learning about their works in technology and he found himself enjoying learning about machines. In a fit of inspiration and a desire to be a more skilled fighter, Erik crafted his own gun and trained with it while raising gil by working at the Ironworks for a time.Erik eventually came to enjoy Ishgard and set up a permanent residence, feeling very much at home here. Full of knowledge, inspiration, and a burning desire, Erik crafted his stories. Though he does love the calm peace of Ishgard and close to his side job at the Ironworks, he does tend to do his best work while surrounded by the hustle and bustle of Ul'dah, just an Aetheryte awayErik is now a fully published author with so far five books for purchase at your local bookstore.

He's also basically blind without his glasses.
His Book: Erik can be seen sometimes writing notes in a book at the Quicksand. He's always working on his next novel whenever he can. He finds the noise of the Quicksand oddly relaxing and it helps him focus.Merc Work: Erik works as a freelance mercenary and bodyguard to help raise gil in case book sales are slow. Lineage: Unknown to Erik, he is half Garlean on his mother’s side. His mother is Livia Cen Bremis, a noblewoman that owns and manages munitions factories for the empire. Those who are of the empire or interacted with the empire may know of her and thus see the resemblance.
